Our wine list
Wine collectors are invited to bring wines from their private collection to the New York Grill to enjoy with their meal. We do require a $15.00 corkage fee for each 750ml bottle of wine. If you would prefer to bring in a wine currently on our list, the corkage fee charged will be one-half the price shown on the wine list. No more than two 750ml bottles or one 1.5 liter bottle will be allowed per party without prior arrangements.
Some wines on our list are earlier vintages. Although these wines have been properly cellared, their taste may vary from your expectations. Since they are expensive (and most are irreplaceable), we must insist that, if you open them, you purchase them unless it is determined by our management that the wine is not typical of this vintage at this stage in its life. Many wines will lose fruit and tannins and develop some mustiness as they age; therefore, some of these characteristics are to be expected. Other wines are too "up-tight and tannic" for many wine drinkers when they are very young, but give them a few years in the bottle and they are marvelous.
We do offer a number of wines that have not yet reached full maturity. Our selection allows our guests an opportunity to taste wines that are very young in order to compare them with more mature wines. Younger wines are often more affordable and ripe with the possibility of discovery. Certain wines and certain vintages are extremely enjoyable in their youth such as a Caymus Cabernet or a Chalk Hill Cabernet, both of which will age beautifully for several years.
If you have questions about these or other wines on this list, please do not hesitate to ask your server about them.
Pairings
Great wine is an elemental part of fine dining. Once you've made your dining selection, your server will gladly help you choose a wine. But if you prefer to make your own selection, here are some guidelines.
| On the Menu | A Perfect Wine Choice | Details |
|---|---|---|
| New York Strip | Cabernet Sauvignon | The structured flavor of the beef stands up to a sturdy Cabernet. Black cherry, currant, and deep rich tones pair well with this classic strip steak. |
| Ribeye | Merlot | Ribeye is a mellow, flavorful steak. The softer tones of Merlot balance the richness of the Ribeye. |
| Filet Mignon | Syrah/Shiraz | Filet is a soft, delicate cut of beef. Syrah has body and a full flavor that emboldens and deepens the taste of the filet. |
| Rack of Lamb | Meritage | Meritage has finesse, suppleness, and complexity - a perfect match for a full-flavored meat such as lamb. |
| Salmon Filet | Chardonnay Pinot Noir | Chardonnays vary from light to heavy with apple to tropical fruit tones that complement salmon. This is a lighter red wine, but its intense fruit flavors stand up well to refine the subtlety of the salmon. |
| Chicken Breast | French White Burgundies | White Burgundies are crisp and fresh, yet smooth and fruity -- perfect enhancements to the delicacy of chicken. |
| Lobster | Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio | Both wines are light, fruity, and crisp, complementing the lobster's buttery texture. |
